Innovating for a Sustainable, Happy Future
The Summerland Charity Shop – Penny Lane, in partnership with UBC’s Innovative Learning Centre (ILC), held the first Maker Day 2.0 with educators from British Columbia and Alberta on June 13, 2015. Over 40 educators came together to engage in design thinking and hands on trades activities that included the incorporation of electronics and coding activities to innovate for a sustainable, happy future.
Participants spent the day immersed in design thinking, making, and exploring simple technologies that can be used in educational settings K – 20. At the end of the day they left with skills, resources, and a sense that making can be easily incorporated into regular classroom activities.
This event has been made possible from a generous donation from the Summerland Charity Shop – Penny Lane. Supporting youth in Summerland and the South Okanagan.
