Design Jam | Trades UX Challenge

On Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Atrium, Centre for Learning building at Okanagan College’s Kelowna Campus, Women in Trades team is hosting a fun, interactive event.

This event is planned to engage participants to use a design-based approach, to encourage and support creative problem solving, and to generate innovation. As we collaborate with our guests, the group will address a Trades USER EXPERIENCE (UX) CHALLENGE (to be revealed on the day of the event).

Invited to attend along with the Trades & Apprenticeship portfolio team are community representatives from non-traditional learner groups in skilled trades training, including but not limited to women, aboriginals, youth, people with disabilities, immigrants, and older displaced workers.

Event highlights include Keynote speakers from User Experience Designer Shane Austin and director of UBC’s Innovative Learning Centre, Dr. Susan Crichton, who will introduce design thinking as a powerful methodology for educators to create meaningful change in their organizations.

The resources created at this event will be posted and shared, including a Design Jam Toolkit plus a colorful Info Graphic summarizing the event.
